Muthumudalige Pushpakumara produced a magnificent all-round performance as Sri Lanka “A” beat New Zealand by 61 runs in a warm up game played yesterday at the SSC grounds.
Pushpakumara hammered 42 in just 30 balls with six boundaries as Sri Lanka “A” made 234 all out and then captured 3 for 36 with his off spin as they dismissed the Black Caps for 173 in 41.5 overs.

Paceman Dilhara Fernando also picked up three wickets.

Sri Lanka “A” which batted first, were off to a horrific start losing Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Udawatte and Upul Tharanga with just 14 runs on the board, but recovered later thanks to a solid middle order performance by youngsters Tilina Kandamby (26), LAhiru Thirimanne (51), Gihan Rupesinghe (34), Dinesh Chandimal (29) and Pushpakumara (42).

Sri Lanka “A” were 137 for six at one stage but Pushpakumara and Chandimal added 64 runs in eight overs to help the locals make a substantial total to defend.
