Sri Lanka is buying six Xian MA60 turboprop powered aircraft for a state-run airline and air force, from China, a media report said.
The aircraft are being sold by China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation (CATIC) finance by a government loan, Flight Global an aviation news portal said quoting an un-named Xian aircraft official.
Four other MA60s, to be delivered in 2011, would be for the Sri Lanka Air Force, the report said.
Myanmar has also ordered three MA60 aircraft.
The aircraft purchases would be financed from a Chinese loan.
Last year China became the top lender to Sri Lanka committing 1.2 billion US dollars in aid, Sri Lanka's finance ministry said.
