Sri Lanka's Commercial Bank said it will open a 'holiday banking centre' at a well-known shopping mall in the capital Colombo to meet growing demand for extended banking hours and higher cash withdrawals.
The centre at the Majestic City mall will stay open from 10.00 am to 7.30 pm on most days of the year, including public, bank and mercantile holidays, and cater to corporate, trade and retail customers, a bank statement said.
The centre will offer unlimited withdrawals and deposits, issue of pay orders and local drafts, issue and encashment of travellers cheques and foreign currency notes.
Customers will also be able to collect inward remittances and open current accounts. The new centre is modelled on a similar facility set up by Commercial Bank in Kandy in the central hills which offers extended-hour banking on a 360-day basis.
