Sri Lanka women's hockey team has cancelled a tour to Bangkok citing security fears in Thailand, officials said.
"We cannot allow a women's team which includes three school girls to tour a country which is unstable," Gamini Jayasinghe, secretary of the National Hockey Federation was quoted by China's Xinhua news agency as saying.
The 18-member Sri Lanka team was to leave on Wednesday for the tournament starting on Saturday which is the qualifier for the next Asian Games.
Pakistan, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Kazakhastan were the other teams taking part in the qualifying round.
