Google hacks not from inside Chinese schools says China PDF Print E-mail

ChinaThe Chinese government has denied that Google Gmail accounts were hacked into from school computers.

Shanghai Jiaotong University and Lanxiang Vocational School were named by US investigators as the likely origins of the hacks.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ma Zhaoxu branded the accusation "groundless".

He added that it was "irresponsible" to blame the government for the attacks, which led to Google threatening to pull out of China altogether.

'Anti-terror buggy' unveiled by firm in India PDF Print E-mail

_47320797_008762927-1A mini armoured car, designed for use in confined spaces such as airports and hotels targeted in terror attacks, has gone on display at an Indian arms fair.

The battery operated, two million rupee ($45,000) Anti-Terrorist Assault Cart (Atac) is said to resemble a bullet-proof golf buggy with firing ports.

It has been specially designed to transport two armed security personnel during or after terror attacks.

It was created in the wake of the Mumbai (Bombay) hotel attacks of 2008.

Google admits Buzz social network testing flaws PDF Print E-mail

GoogleGoogle has admitted to BBC News that testing of its controversial social network Buzz was insufficient.

The firm has had to make a series of changes to the service after a ferocious backlash from users concerned about intrusions of privacy.

The BBC understands that Buzz was only tested internally and bypassed more extensive trials with external testers - used for many other Google services.

Toyota recalls thousands of Prius cars worldwide PDF Print E-mail

PriusToyota has announced the recall of about 436,000 hybrid vehicles worldwide, including its latest Prius model, to fix brake problems.

It includes more than 200,000 Prius cars sold in Japan and 8,500 cars in the UK.

"We have decided to recall as we regard safety for our customers as our foremost priority," the firm said.

The company has already recalled eight million vehicles because of accelerator and floor mat problems.

Company president Akio Toyoda made the latest recall announcement at a news conference in Tokyo on Tuesday afternoon.

Tablet_PC"Tens of millions" of tablet computers will be sold in 2010, according to technology analysts at Deloitte.

The keyboard and mouse-free devices are likely to be a top trend among consumers, they anticipate.

Deloitte's prediction fuels rumours that Apple is set to unveil a tablet-style computer at a press event it is hosting on 27 January.

However, the impact of tablet sales on the burgeoning e-reader market could be substantial, the report said.
